Car crashed following police pursuit

Merseyside Police investigating a suspected stolen vehicle seized in Fazakerley last night (Tuesday 8 June) are appealing for information.

At around 7.55pm, officers from our Roads Policing Unit were made aware of an Audi A4 travelling on Whitefield Road. After a short pursuit, the Audi collided with three other vehicles on Copplehouse Lane and two male offenders made off on foot.

One of the offenders is described as white, wearing beige shorts and a navy top. The second offender is described as white, with red hair, wearing a blue top and blue shorts.

No-one was hurt in the incident, but the driver of one vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Witness and CCTV enquires are being carried out in the area.

Inspector Carl McNulty from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We’re looking to speak to anyone who was in the Fazakerley area last night at the time of the incident, particularly around the junction of Hawksmoore Road and Grieve Road. It might be that you have CCTV or dashcam footage of the offenders making off from the car, or you saw their direction of travel.

“Proactive policing and visible patrols on our roads not only give the public reassurance, they allow officers to observe any suspicious activity and act on it. No criminal should attempt to profit from a stolen vehicle while our wider law abiding communities work hard to earn an honest living – luckily this car will shortly be back with its owner, but we would like to find out who was responsible as soon as possible. So please do let us know if you have any information which could help the investigation.”

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage, should contact @MerPolCC, ring 101 or the Roads Policing Unit on 0151 777 5747 or email quoting ref. 1019 of 08/06.
