Detectives investigating a violent attack on a woman are appealing for a man who chased away the attacker to come forward.
At 4:07pm on Thursday, 8 April, a 60-year-old woman was attacked as she walked along City Road, Islington.
In what appears to have been a random incident, the suspect approached the victim and struck her in the face. The injury caused by the blow indicates that a sharp or bladed weapon was used.
The suspect is described as a white man, aged 50-60.
A good Samaritan intervened and chased the suspect from the scene – police are keen to speak with this person who they believe was a man.
The victim was taken by London Ambulance Service to an east London hospital where her injuries were assessed as non life-threatening, but will result in permanent scarring.
Anyone who has information relating to the identity of the suspect or the good Samaritan should call police on 101 quoting 4786/8APR.
