Merseyside Police are appealing for information following an attempted cash machine theft in Kirkby in the early hours of Monday morning (5 April).
At around 3am, officers attended the Go Local supermarket at the Moorfield Centre to reports of an ATM going offline. The store was found to be insecure and an unsuccessful attempt made to remove the cash machine. A suspected stolen white van was found at the scene.
Detective Inspector Sue Hinds said: “Although this was a failed attempt, such incidents can cause a massive risk to people living nearby, as well as inconvenience, stress and cost to businesses.
“We’re determined to track down those responsible so if you live nearby and heard any disturbance in the early hours, or may have captured anything on your own CCTV, dashcam or other devices, come forward. We believe those involved were interrupted, so if you saw anyone running off or past your home, let us know. A small detail could provide a big clue.
“Local businesses have had enough to deal with in recent months without being targeted by would-be thieves, so tell us what you know and we’ll remove these offenders from the community.”
