West Midlands Police are investigating after a teenager was stabbed in the Alum Rock area of Birmingham last night (9 February).
Officers were called by the ambulance service to reports of a stabbing in Alum Rock Road just before 7.10pm.
A 19-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds and rushed to hospital. He remains in a critical condition having undergone emergency surgery.
The motive for the attack is unclear and enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened before and after the teenager was stabbed.
No arrests have been made, but police say they understand the victim was chased down the road by a group of men before being attacked.
Neighbourhood officers have stepped up patrols in the area to reassure and engage with local people and businesses. The police have spoken to witnesses, conducted house to house enquiries and are in the process of reviewing CCTV from the area.
