West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation after a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Coventry last night (Tuesday 31 March).
Officers were called after the man was found with serious injuries at the BP garage in Lockhurst Lane, Holbrooks just after 11pm.
Despite the best efforts of medics he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight today (Wednesday 1 April).
At around the same time officers were alerted to reports of an assault on a 20-year-old man in a car in nearby Princess Street at the junction with Station Street.
Cash and a phone were stolen and the man suffered minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
Det Insp Stuart Mobberley said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of the young man who has lost his life and we’re working to establish the circumstances around his death.
“We believe this may have been a targeted attack and at this stage believe the second incident may be connected.
“So we’re keen to hear from anyone with information which can assist us as our investigations continue.”
