Police appeal to identify man in connection with arson

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police are continuing to appeal for help from the public to identify a man they want to speak to in connection with an arson attack in Worcester Park.

Police were called at 5pm on Saturday, 7 September 2019 to reports of a fire at a former hairdressers on Cheam Common Road.

Officers from the London Fire Brigade (LFB) and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene.

Several neighbouring buildings had to be evacuated due to the severity of the fire. The prompt action of the emergency services prevented anyone being injured, however an empty shop and adjacent flat were severely damaged.

Police have released an image of a man they are keen to speak to and are seeking the public’s help in coming forward, particularly if they know who this man is or if they have information that may be relevant.

The image was captured in the vicinity of the shop at 4:33pm.

If you can name this man or have information concerning this incident, please contact police as soon as possible.
