Merseyside Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Aigburth.
Officers were called at just before 12pm on Monday (23rd December) to reports that a woman in her 20s had been approached by man on Aigburth Road who tried to snatch her bag and in doing so the woman was dragged to the floor.
A member of the public intervened and the victim’s bag broke. The offender then made off empty-handed towards Parkfield Road.
The man is described as a white male, in his 40s, 6ft 3in tall, with pale skin and of stocky build. He was wearing a black puffer jacket, blue baseball cap and gloves.
It is believed he may have been in the company of a second man and they possibly left the area in a grey Audi A6.
CCTV enquiries have been carried out in the local area and an investigation is underway.
Detective Inspector Sean Kelly-Martland said: “Thankfully the woman was not seriously injured during the incident but she was left shaken by her ordeal.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Aigburth Road or Parkfield Road yesterday lunchtime who saw the man or someone fitting his description to get in touch with us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 19100749418.
