Detectives from Merseyside Police are appealing for information following the targeted shooting of a man in Huyton last night (Wednesday 28 August).
At around 11.15pm, emergency services were called to Hathersage Road to reports of a man in his 20s having suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh. He was taken to hospital with a non life-threatening injury.
The incident is believed to have been targeted attack but the full circumstances are currently unclear.
CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries are ongoing and officers are urging people with information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Judith Blease said: “As with many targeted shootings, we don’t have a full picture of what happened last night, and need to hear from everyone with information as soon as possible. Although this lack of detail can be frustrating to the investigation, it doesn’t lessen our resolve in finding those responsible and putting them before the courts.
“We need anyone who saw or heard anything to help us out. I’m sure there is information out there in the local community. The vast majority of people in Huyton who share our determination to rid their streets of the fear and harm that violence, knife and gun crime create, and we stand alongside them to take positive action.
“You might not want to speak to police directly, you might be fearful of repercussions, and we understand that. I want to offer reassurance to those people that you can either call police or contact us @MerPolCC and we will handle what you tell us with sensitivity, but there are other ways to tell us what you know.
