Soldier suffered fractured skull in assault

Metropolitan Police officers investigating an assault on a serving soldier are appealing for information to identify a man they wish to speak with.

At 3:20am on Thursday, 31 January, a 28-year-old soldier, wearing mess uniform, was attacked on Haymarket, at the junction with Coventry Street, SW1.

The victim’s injuries were mainly facial and included a fractured skull, cheek bone and eye sockets, and a broken nose which required extensive surgeries to correct.

Detectives have issued a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak with in connection with this incident.
