Would-be-robber fled empty handed

Police officers are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Aberdeen.

The incident occurred at around 1.25am today (Wednesday 6 March 2019) where a man entered L & M Stores on Hutcheon Street, presented a weapon and demanded money. The female shop worker refused and the man left the premises and was last seen walking down Hutcheon Street towards George Street.

The woman was not harmed during the incident and nothing was taken.

The man is described as 20-25 years old, 5’4-5’5 in height, wearing a black Northface Jacket, dark baseball cap, blue and white checked trousers and grey and red Nike Air Max shoes.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Sam Harris said: “I am appealing for information from anyone who may have seen a man matching the description, in the Hutcheon Street area in the early hours of this morning.

“Thankfully the shop worker was not injured as a result of this incident and her actions meant he left empty handed. Our enquiries are ongoing and the local community are thanked for their patience as there will be police presence for a time.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0155 of 6 March. Information can also be given anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
