Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Hounslow during which threats were made with a ‘zombie’ knife.
Police were called at around 8:10hpm on Saturday, 2 February to reports of an attempted robbery at Costcutter in Crosslands Avenue.
It is believed two masked men entered the building and threatened the shopkeeper with the knife, demanding he hand over the cash in the till.
Two other staff members, who were in the storeroom at the time, heard what was happening and attempted to fight off the attackers.
During the incident, one of the victims was slashed in the hand several times and was taken to hospital where he required 30 stitches. He is now recovering at home.
The two suspects made off from the scene on foot down Fern Lane towards North Hyde Lane.
No items or cash were taken from the shop.
DC Nicholas Strachan, from West Area CID, said: “This was a violent incident and the three members of staff are fortunate not to have been more seriously injured.
“We know there will have been a number of people in the area around this time and we are urging anyone who might have seen anything, no matter how small, to come forward and assist us with our investigation.”
