Merseyside Police says it is investigating following reports of a firearms discharge in Bootle last night (Monday 4 February).
Officers were contacted at around 8.50pm to reports of witnesses hearing loud bangs in Byron Street. Patrols attended and found damage to a house consistent with a firearms discharge. Nobody was injured during the incident.
An investigation is underway with house-to-house and CCTV enquiries carried out in the area.
Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Byron Street who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us. We are also interested in any dash-cam footage which may have captured the incident.
“Luckily nobody was hurt during the incident but understandably this causes concern for our communities and I want to reassure them that we will do everything we can to find the people responsible and bring them to justice.”
