Woman stabbed in back

Police in Greenwich are appealing for help to find a man after a woman was stabbed in the back in Greenwich this morning (Monday, 10 September).

An image of the man sought by police has been released. He is Peter Morley, aged 35, and should not be approached by members of the public.

He is wanted for questioning in relation to this incident.

Anyone who sees Mr Morley or knows where he is should dial 999 immediately.

Detective Chief Inspector Lesley Hamilton of Greenwich Police said: “It is important that we locate Mr Morley quickly and without further incident and I urge anyone who sees him not to hesitate but to call police without delay.

“Officers remain at the scene and additional patrols are being conducted to provide reassurance to the public while the search for Peter Morley is undertaken.”

Police were called at around 9:30am to reports of a stabbing at Anglesea Road, SE18.

Officers attended. At the scene a woman, believed in her 30s, was found suffering from a number of stab wounds to her back.

The injured woman was taken by London’s Air Ambulance [HEMS] to a central London hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.

At this early stage there has been no arrest. Enquiries continue.
