An investigation has been launched by West Midlands Police after a teenage boy was stabbed in Handsworth Park yesterday evening (Monday 27 August).
Police were called by paramedics to the York Road area of the park in Handsworth, Birmingham, at around 6.40pm.
The 16-year-old suffered a stab wound to the back and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition (Tuesday 28 August).
A 15-year-old girl also suffered minor injuries.
Investigating officer Sgt Damian Forrest said: “I am asking for anyone with information on this attack to come forward and speak to us. Anything you know could really help our investigation while it is in the early stages.
“If you noticed anyone in the area that was acting suspicious, we’d really like to hear from you.”
No arrests have been made and anyone with information is urged to call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting log 2003 of 27 August.
