Merseyside Police detectives are appealing for information after an ATM theft in Bromborough in the early hours of this morning (31st July).
Just after 1.30am, the police received a report that the Cheshire Building Society ATM on Allport Lane Precinct, Bromborough had been damaged in what is thought to be caused by an explosion.
It is believed that during the attack, a Land Rover was also damaged and along with the ATM itself, were abandoned at the scene. The offenders are then thought to have made off with the contents of the cash machine in two other cars, described as an Audi and Mercedes.
Detective Inspector Siobhan Gainer said: “This is a really serious incident and thankfully no one was hurt during the incident, however the damage and inconvenience caused to local businesses and the public is significant. Those responsible have clearly given very little thought towards the safety of the wider community and that’s why we must work together to identify those responsible.
“Whilst we will continue to analyse the CCTV, seek witnesses and carry out forensic tests to identify the offender/s, we are asking anyone who has any further information to please come forward.
“It may be that the criminals that targeted this machine had been in the area in the days leading up to the event, scoping the area. Anyone with who believes they could help or saw someone or something that didn’t sit quite right with them is asked to contact us via social media @MerPolCC, by calling 101 or contacting @CrimestoppersUK anonymously.”
