West Midlands Police have launched an investigation after a man sustained head injuries following a road rage attack on Saturday afternoon (7 July).
It’s understood the man was a passenger in a VW Golf who was involved in an argument with the occupants of a silver Astra.
Both cars came to a stop on Victoria Street in Bordesley Green, Birmingham at around 2pm where the argument escalated to a fight.
The 21-year-old passenger was assaulted, and hit over the head with a spade which caused serious injuries.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who was in the area, or who witnessed what happened to come forward.
DC Claire Walsh said: “The victim narrowly escaped life threatening injuries, but remains in hospital undergoing treatment for the serious injuries he’s sustained.
“From our initial enquiries we know there was a large build-up of traffic on Victoria Street when this happened. I’d like to ask anyone who drove past the incident to come forward if they haven’t done so already.”
The investigation team are also keen to hear from anyone who has information pertaining to the identity of those responsible.
DC Walsh added: “The witnesses we have spoken to have described the four men in the Astra as black, possibly of Somali origin.”
