Detectives have released pictures of three people they would like to speak to in connection with an arson attack on a man’s home in Lambeth on Friday, 16 March.
Officers were called at approximately 1:20pm that day to reports of a fire at a residential property in Lakeview Road, SE27 after the victim woke to find his front door on fire.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) attended the scene.
An investigation into the cause of the fire by officers and LFB established that petrol had been used as an accelerant in the arson.
Detective Constable Jonathan Layne, from Lambeth CID, said: “This attack could quite easily have proved fatal. The use of accelerant meant the fire could have spread to other properties and endangered more people. It is just by sheer luck that no one was hurt.”
“The three images released are people we need to identify and speak with. The images are taken from cameras in close vicinity to the location at the time of the incident. Those pictured are believed to have information which would assist the investigation. If you are one of those pictured or know who these people are, please contact us right away.”
