A constable from the Metropolitan Police has been dismissed without notice after failing to report damage he caused to a police vehicle and then denying having driven the car.
At a public misconduct hearing which took place on Monday, 23 April, PC Anis Riabi, attached to Hackney borough, answered to allegations that his conduct amounted to a breach of standards of professional behaviour in respect of duties and responsibilities, and honesty and integrity.
The panel heard that on 3 September 2016, PC Riabi was on duty when he caused damage to the nearside wing mirror of a police vehicle, tore a page from the logbook and failed to report the damage. When spoken to by a supervisor, it was alleged PC Riabi lied and denied having driven the vehicle that day.
PC Riabi admitted to failing to report the damage, and lying about the damage to the vehicle to a police sergeant. The allegations that he caused the damage to the vehicle and the log book were proven by the panel who dismissed PC Riabi without notice.
