A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in Walthamstow.
Police were called at around 9:30pm on Wednesday (14 March) to reports of shots fired on Forest Road, E17.
Officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended and found a young man suffering from a gunshot injury.
The man, who is believed to be aged 20, was pronounced dead at 10:45pm while en route to hospital.
His next of kin have been informed although formal identification is yet to take place.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
The investigation is being led by Det Chief Insp Andrew Packer. He said: “At this early stage, it is believed that the victim was in a stationary vehicle which was approached by a number of suspects before shots were fired.
“These shots have fatally wounded the victim and left his family and friends devastated. We are doing everything we can to find the culprits. I would urge all witnesses and those with information to contact police.”
There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
