Murder investigation launched

A murder investigation has been launched in Hackney following a stabbing.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of a stabbing at Monteagle Way on the Nightingale Estate, E5 at around 00:01am on Tuesday, 14 November.

At the scene, a 20-year-old man was treated by medical professionals for a stab wound to the chest. Sadly, he died at the scene at 00:15am.

Detectives know the identity of the victim and next of kin have been notified. However, formal identification is yet to take place.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

At this early stage officers retain an open mind regarding motive.

There have been no arrests at this stage and enquiries are ongoing.

The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the vicinity of Monteagle Way and the Nightingale Estate at around the time of the stabbing.
