Armed robbery at pub

Detectives from the Met’s Flying Squad are investigating an armed robbery at a pub in Sutton.

The offence happened at about 10pm on Sunday (1 October) at The HG Wells Pub, Cheam Common Road, Worcester Park.

A member of staff was stabbed in the leg by one of the suspects.

He was later treated in hospital for his injuries; he was released after treatment.

No further injuries were reported.

Staff and some members of the public were locked in a room by the robbers, who attempted to remove the safe and then stole cash.

The suspects, who were described as black, then made off in a silver Vauxhall Astra.

No arrests have been made at this early stage.
