An officer has been dismissed from the Metropolitan Police Service for inappropriate communications with a child.
PC William Jarvis, attached to the East Area Command Unit, was dismissed following a Special Case Hearing.
It was alleged that between 2010 and 2012, PC Jarvis engaged in inappropriate online communications with a child or children, including at least one child under 16.
The chair found the allegations proven and that they breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in such a way that the only appropriate outcome was dismissal without notice.
Assistant Commissioner Martin Hewitt, who chaired the hearing, said: “The public have the right to expect the highest standards of behaviour from police officers and preying on vulnerable young girls for sexual gratification falls extremely far below that standard.
“PC Jarvis has fully admitted to the actions and accepts that they constitute gross misconduct, therefore the only appropriate course of action is dismissal.”
