Victim of hit and run incident in critical condition

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was struck by a car in Barnet and left with critical injuries.

Police were called at 8:35pm on Wednesday (31 May) to a car in collision with a pedestrian in the car park of the Great North Leisure Park off High Road, Finchley.

Police officers, the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 20s – was taken by London’s Air Ambulance to an east London hospital. His condition is critical.

The car – a white BMW – was abandoned at the location.

Detectives from Barnet CID are investigating.

At this early stage, it is believed that the victim was assaulted before the car was deliberately driven at him. Detectives are working to establish the full circumstances.

No one else was reported to be injured.

Enquiries continue to trace the driver of the BMW and any other people involved in the incident.

Detectives are appealing for people who witnessed the incident to come forward.
