Following an investigation by fire investigators, a fire at Claire House charity shop in Bromborough on Saturday, 31 December is no longer being treated as an arson.
Emergency services were called to the shop on The Rake at around 4.40pm after a passer-by saw smoke coming from a broken window and called 999.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service fire investigators have since examined the scene and believe the fire was caused as a result of an accidental ignition, caused by an electrical fault.
Detectives are still appealing for information following this incident after a window was found damaged at the shop. Crime scene investigators have attended and forensic opportunities are being progressed.
If anyone remembers seeing or hearing anything suspicious they should call the police or Crimestoppers.
