Investigation following shooting

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was shot in Balham.

On Tuesday, (20 September) the Metropolitan Police was called by the London Ambulance Service at around 9.20pm to Dornton Road, SW12 following a report of a man having been shot.

Officers attended and found evidence of a discharge of a firearm outside an address in Bedford Hill. Inside the address was a man suffering a gunshot wound.

The victim, aged 26, was taken to a south London hospital. His injury is described as not life threatening.

At this early stage the suspect is described as a man who was wearing dark clothing and a skull face bandana or balaclava. It is believed that he fled the scene down Dornton Road into Ritherdon Road.

Detective Inspector Sean Drislane, the senior investigating officer, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in or around the Bedford Hill area that may have seen or heard anything they think is related to the incident, to contact police.”

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
