Murder investigation launched following stabbing

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Greenwich.

Police were called at approximately 7:55pm on Sunday (11 September) to reports of a man stabbed in Anchor and Hope Lane.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended, and the victim – believed to be a 25-year-old man – was taken to a south London hospital where he died this morning (Monday 12 September).

Detectives believe they know the identity of the deceased, but await formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

The investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Graeme Gwyn from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

There has been no arrest at this stage and enquiries continue.
