A former teacher from Stockport has been jailed for sexual offences against children.
Today (Thursday 1 September) Gary Ellins, aged 45, of Vernon Drive, Marple, was jailed for 12 months at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.
He pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to two counts of voyeurism and six counts of making indecent images of a child.
On Thursday 5 November 2015 officers executed a warrant at Ellins’ home address and a total of 71 images and videos were recovered.
Following the warrant, Ellins was arrested and later pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism and six counts of making indecent images of a child whilst he was a teacher in Tameside between 2010 and 2012.
Detective Inspector Mike Gladwin of Greater Manchester Police’s Sexual Crime Unit, said: “Ellins used his position of trust to exploit those whom he should have been protecting.
“The safeguarding of children is a priority for GMP and we have worked, and will continue to work, closely with our partners in education and local authority to ensure their safety.
“Ellins’ victims, their parents and his former colleagues who have been affected by his crimes are being supported by specially trained officers and the local authority.”
