Police appeal following two sexual assaults

Northumbria Police are appealing for information after two sexual assaults in Station Road, Ashington.

The first happened at 8pm on Monday, April 18, when a 32-year-old woman was approached by a man who was riding a mountain bike. As he passed the woman he touched her inappropriately and made off.

The second incident happened at 10pm on Tuesday, April 19, when a 27-year-old woman was approached by a man on a bike who asked her for the time. While speaking with the woman he touched her inappropriately and made off.

The man is described as being of large build and was wearing an electric blue tracksuit and a camouflage snood. He spoke with a squeaky voice.

Enquiries are ongoing into the assaults and anyone with information to help is asked to contact police.

Neighbourhood Inspector, Dave Harris, said: “We are carrying out enquiries in the local area and speaking to those who live near to where the incidents took place. We have stepped up patrols in Station Road and would appeal for anyone with any information to come forward and contact police”.
