Appeal to trace absconder from mental health unit

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for information to trace an absconder from a mental health unit in Hackney.

The public are advised not to approach Cornell Destouches, aged 25, as he is considered dangerous.

Cornell Destouches was last seen at approximately at 5pm on Sunday (10 April) at The Drive, Walthamstow, E17.

He was last seen at the junction of The Drive and Churchill Road, E17 where he fled from a mini cab during a period of escorted leave.

He is described as a black male of medium build, 5ft 11ins tall with braided hair and a black beard.

He was last seen wearing a black and grey t-shirt, blue jacket, blue jeans and navy trainers and was carrying a grey rucksack.

He suffers from paranoid schizophrenia and requires daily medication to control this condition.

His current whereabouts are unknown but he is known to have links to a number of boroughs in east London.

Detective Inspector Paul Ridley, from Hackney CID, said: “‘Extensive efforts are being made to trace Cornell Destouches. He has a history of violence and could pose a threat if confronted. If you see him please do not  approach or challenge him but dial 999 immediately.'”
